Rare UK Tour by George Porter Jr and His New Orleans Band
As a forefather of funk with New Orleans combo The Meters, George Porter Jr helped create a bass style made famous on tracks like Cissy Strut and Just Kissed My Baby. His trademark grooves with drummer Zigaboo Modeleste have since been sampled or covered by the likes of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, LL Cool J, Public Enemy and A Tribe Called Quest. Aside from with his work in the Meters, George has also notched up session work with the likes of Paul McCartney, Patti LaBelle, Dr John, Tori Amos and Taj Mahal. This September he’s bringing his acclaimed band the Runnin’ Pardners to the UK where he’ll be joined by special guests Crowd Company, one of the UK’s top funk/soul bands.
