Treading the boards with Kylie and Leona Lewis
Dishan Abrahams is the sort of bassist whose playing can go unnoticed, blending in smoothly while providing a solid musical link between the vocals and the rest of the band. His performances on stage with the likes of Kylie Minogue and Leona Lewis have drawn praise for their professionalism and for his command of his live sound, which he delivers via his Aguilar backline, Moog Little Phatty and his stock of Music Man and vintage Fender basses. “I’m there to do what’s right for the artist and the material,” he tells us. Such modesty is perhaps a trait of any great bassist, so used to serving the song and not hogging the spotlight, yet Dishan has every right to be confident. Our conversation is taking place prior to his gig with X-Factor alumni, Leona Lewis, at London’s legendary Royal Albert Hall.
