Avishai Cohen to Perform With the BBC Concert Orchestra
Avishai Cohen has long been recognised as one of today’s master ‘doublers’ on the bass. A masterful upright and electric bass player, Avishai returns to London to perform with his core trio, pianist Omri Mor and percussionist Itamar Doari, together with the BBC Concert Orchestra, conducted by Bastien Stil. The concert will be dedicated to John Ellson. John was a close friend to Avishai and a key figure in the development of his success within the UK. “I met Mr John Ellson (Elsi) around 1999,” said Avishai. “I can’t think of anyone else I’ve met in this business that was so generous, real and purely good like John. I will miss him dearly.” The event will be associated with the British Heart Foundation and broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 on February 9th 2017.
