Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist gets his own signature model
A Fender Jazz Bass with attitude or the ultimate in rock ‘n’ roll sophistication? Handcrafted in Ensenada, Mexico, the Flea Jazz Bass is a precise re-creation of his 1961 Jazz Bass and the latest addition to Fender’s esteemed Signature Series. Features include an alder body with a Road Worn faded shell pink nitrocellulose lacquer finish, dual Pure Vintage ’64 Jazz Bass single-coil pickups, a C-shaped maple neck and a 7.25-inch radius rosewood fingerboard. A special 4-bolt neck plate also boasts some of Flea’s engraved artwork.
“Fender embodies everything I love about music and individuality,” Flea told us. “It reflects the soul of rock, punk, R&B and funk. My 1961 Fender Jazz Bass is the greatest bass I’ve ever played. It’s this bass that pushes me to give more each time I play. The Flea Jazz Bass is a true resurrection and possesses that wave of energy a bass should give you when it’s in your hands.”
Fender’s Justin Norvell added: “Flea is a hugely influential and innovative musician and an icon of the modern bass. We are honored to have such an incredible talent as part of the Fender Signature Series, and to capture and share his unique vision through this incredible bass.”
